Smile X3 3.0i 2006 with 45K Km

I have an X3 3.0i 2006 with 45K Km, i brought it to the dealership for oil change then they checked & told me the brake should be replaced.

I want to know how often(after how many KM) usually the brake goes bad?
How do I check if the dealership is telling the truth?

Thanks
Jeevan

45,000 km sounds about right, but it should be covered by maintenance plan / warranty in any case.

Agree that 45,000 km seems about right. My X5 went at less than that, and our E46, which weighs less than the X3, was still fine at that mileage. The first sign will usually be the brake pad warning light on the dash. If it hasn't come on yet, ask how close they are to needing replacement, perhaps you have some time left.

No maintenance plan on brakes in Canada, unless the OP bought an extra maintenance package.
