This might be helpful for your E83 guys, I just finished uploading a new video to showcase how to drain and flush the transfercase (transfer case) for a 2005 E53 X5. At the end, I even show how to use GT1 / DIS to perform the adaptions reset.

Hello, I recently replaced all fluids, front and rear diff, transfer gear and transmission oil. No reset needed. Something else is going on. There's no need to reset computer for diff oil change.

I have a 2007 X3 3.0si. The BMW service manual says:

Quote:
00 11 572
Changing oil in transfer box (ATC 400/500)
Important!
When changing the gear oil, it is necessary to delete the self-
adapting wear values in the transfer box control unit.
Refer to Service functions.
Use only the approved transmission fluid.
Failure to comply with this requirement will result in serious
damage to the transfer box!
Nothing to do for the diffs, but the transfer case, yes. I would use the word "may" and not "will" for resulting serious damage. Understanding how the transfer case will have different clutch engagement for the front/rear torque split depending on the transfer case fluid properties, it only makes sense to delete the adaptations that are stored for the old fluid.

The transfer case adaption can be reset using Autel maxisys scan tool. while not "cheap", many independent shops have these now. It's burried under the "maintence" section.

still no issues/no computer reset

It's been 6 months and over 6k miles since I changed transfer case fluid/front and rear diff and transmission fluid. I have had no issues, no warning lights on dash and I did not reset anything. 130k miles still running strong

I don't think you necessarily need to reset adaptations if only changing fluid since your not changing any clearances the adaptation will adjust the little bit it might need to for the new fluid. The fluid wear code will not turn on a warning light as mentioned previuosly, and will need to be reset(if it bothers you) as the processor can not tell if new fluid has been installed.

For the best results with your BMW, I would suggest you to consult the user manual for your vehicle. This contains all the information regarding transfer case fluid.
But if you do not contain the user manual for your vehicle, get a copy of it online from manuals.co, which offers all kinds of car user manual absolutely free of cost.
