That is absolutely nuts! 3 units??? I wonder how they found out about this. Recall notices normally go out when a "more than normal" amount of failures come in, right?

But with this... unless an owner already cracked up his whip and had shrapnel stuck in their face composed of polycarbonate and a few LED's... how do they distinguish just 3?

Recalls aren't based on numbers impacted, they are based on risk. It seems they were able to isolate a manufacturing process step that caused the problem. Manufacturing records would indicate which serial numbers were impacted.
