When was the last time you had an oil change and was it re-set
Some more info may be helpful-
What's the mileage now? When was the last time you knew that it worked? When was the last oil change and were you able to re-set it? How many times previously were you able to utilize the function? I may not be able to assist if you have the above info, but I am certain someone will be able to gather the info and give some direction.

Mileage 92011. Last oil change it didn't work. The one before it did. The car just came out of storage and have done a bit of maintenance. It wasn't working before this.

thanks- 05e83
that will help a lot. there are a lot of people on this board willing to help and I myself have gained tons of info that saved me tons of $$$ over the years. Do yourself a favor before someone requests it and add the year and model for your X3 to your signature. There are a lot of mechanics on the board that won't even bother to reply if they see that you didn't even bother to do so. Also, if you don't get a bite here you could post on the e53 board and someone will likely chime in.
Hope that helps.

Did you resolve?
motordavid (long time member of this site) posted this (from bimmerfest)
Resetting service interval Look on the instrument clusteryou will see 2 buttons in the lower centre part of the dash, 1) Make sure the ignition is swiched off, press and hold the left button and turn the ignition on to the first position keep holding the button down until you see the display change 2)Lift you finger and press and hold again untill reset appears ( normally after aprox 5 seconds ) it will also flash, once this happens lift your finger again 3) Then press and release straight away, this should reset the service indicator. you may want to print this off prior trying to reset .............................. just to make it easier to follow -
