Important question on X4 tire swap..

My X5 M-sport came with 20" performance RFTs. I immediately swapped them out for Conti ExtremeContact DWS performance all-season. (BTW, they are awesome on dry, rain & snow) highly recommend them..

anyway.. i'm losing the X5 but gaining an X4 m-sport w/20" 310 wheel upgrade which also comes with performance RFTs. In order to get full value for my X5 trade in I have to re-install the original RFTs and remove the Contis. I will, however, have the Contis available for the X4, assuming they fit properly.

Question: will the X4 w/20" factory wheel upgrade accept them without a problem?

Current X4 tire size is: front 245/40/20, rear 275/35/20

Conti tires from X5 size is: front 275/40/20, rear 315/35/20

I read somewhere that wheels can accommodate slightly narrower or wider tires. According to a tire calculator I googled, it should fit with no problems. (unless i'm reading it wrong..) can someone confirm this? I'd hate to have to purchase another set of Contis.

link to tire calculator is below.

245/40-R20 vs 275/40-R20 Tire Comparison - Tire Size Calculator

I appreciate any real feedback..

275 tire can be installed on a wheel 8.5/10.5 with no problem, rear maybe an issue

Important question on X4 tire swap..

Ok well as far as getting tires on the wheels , you will be fine as these are same sizes as the x5 . Now Clearance maybe a problem but spacers could help. You have to just try it and see . Unless someone else in here that has done this chimes in .

Good Question,

my wife did similar. traded in her X5D for the new X4 w/M pkg and they removed the Nitto INVO i just put on that morning

i think the 275s the X5 Ran up front will be a great Rear for the X4 but the 315s are too wide for the X4 wheels and wheel well.

only one way to truly find out..... one of us will have to spend the time and money to mount them and see

For the best assistance on tire swap, you can look into the user manual of a vehicle. I’m sure it contains all the information relating the swap in tires you intend.
If you do not possess the user manual, now you can download a copy of it online. Visit manuals.co, which is one of the leading websites to get all kinds of user manuals absolutely free of costs.
