Style 87 Wheel - Got Lucky

For the record, I have bent one 87 wheel about 4-5 years ago, hitting a pothole.

Got lucky on this one. Was doing 60-65mph, hit a pothole. Sidewall blew out but I'm sitting here at the shop, and the replacement tire balanced fine with no sign of the wheel being bent.

Just will need some time polishing out the rubber but it's all due course with a post winter detail

Keep an eye on it over the years. I had a similar situation. About 1.5 years later I was replacing the tire and a chunk came off at the impact spot. The rim had been weakened at the location and over time caused a crack to propagate. I had no idea, I had driven to the shop and as they un-mounted the tire it dropped off.

I believe it may have started when you typed the words "got lucky" in your original post. Beware of what you type - the X is listening!!!

Holy Crap! I've been driving around in my little universe out here on the Left Coast for 45 years and never seen anything like that.
