Very straightforward once you remove the intake parts held by plastic rivets. Search for N62 water pump replacement on youtube and it'll give you some idea how to do it.

I looked at youtube. The N62 cooling fan vid I saw there was on a seven series with an old school fan on the water pump shaft. I have an 04 4.4 and have an electric cooling fan. |

There's no need to remove the fan to access the pulleys. Come at them from the bottom. I've replaced them all and did not have to pull the fan that I remember...

Taking the fan out is only taking 2 minutes and gives you a lot of room to work.
If you have the torx bits necessary to move the tensioner belt comes out very easy too. Just take a couple of photos before you take them apart and change what ever you like. Regards |

Item 4 (X 2) remove; then able to lift fan assembly out after removing hoses from plastic hooks on backside of fan (not shown) and electrical connection Item 6. Item 5 (unsure of the number), but I did not need to remove these--perhaps removed by previous owner, or there is no need to remove them. As someone mentioned, use male torx socket with torque wrench or breaker bar to loosen tension of each of two belts (Alternator/PS and AC pump). Removal of idlers and tension pulleys is straightforward, thereafter. After you do this a couple of times, this job becomes faster and it can be done without removing fan, since you'll know where belt tension point are located. I always remove the fan for more comfortable access--and it's easy to do. |
