DIY guide for pre-facelift angle eye wiring for DRL?
Looking to wire my new set of Umnitza Predator Orion V2 angle eyes as daytime running lights, on my 2003 (pre facelift) X5. Umnitza is shipping me a wiring harness to accomplish this (was missing from their angel eyes packaging), presumably this one: http://www.umnitza.com/wiring-harnes...es-p-1230.html Here are the features I'm interested in having them do: 1) disarm factory alarm/open keyless entry - angle eyes turn on (and stay on the same duration as interior lighting). 2) arm factory alarm/lock keyless entry - angel eyes turn on (and stay on the same duration as interior lighting). Basically I want the angle eyes to turn on and off on the action of interior lighting turning on and off, as controlled by the alarm/keyless entry. 3) engine running - angel eyes are on (operate as daytime running lights). 4) I dont necessarily need or want a dedicated switch to control the angle eyes daytime running lights function. If the engine is running, I feel the daytime running lights should be running. Can someone point me to the appropriate installation guide to support these features, if one already exists (I'm betting it's hiding here somewhere)? Thanks in advance! --Scott |

I bought a relay off of ebay that works exactly you described. It was actually a kit for the E36 (I think) but works for the E53. Give me a bit, I'll see if I can find a link.

Scott the red and white striped wire I believe is for the ECU and will give you the daytime running light operation.
Most also use the secondary trigger on the harness to tap into a footwell light which will give you fade-in and fade-out

Search ebay for E36 angel eye relay. First auction that comes up has fade-on, fade-off in the title. My harness came with a link to a DIY pdf.
