The EXTREME dirt/dust in the CD/NAV area (last pic in post #65) makes me think there are split body seams in the left/rear, major body issues IMHO. 200k on my '03, and NO dust at all in that area!).
In all honesty, I don't think he is going to part it out. He seemed he just wanted the car gone - I suspect he sold it. I would be surprised if I were to see the parts on CL or something.

I was ready to pay $8K that day but he wouldn't budge on $9K, so I walked.

I captured that dusty area because it stood out to me. Interesting that it might mean a split seam.

Yeah... have to agree with you there. Weird that it was finally considered "rare" at the time of sale. Even sadder is the fact that it is a 2 owner car with A TON of money invested in it.

If I were the Seller, I would actually go fix those little issues like the body dings and such and then stick to my guns on the price. The headlight washers and grills are such an easy fix. You can get a new, nicer steering wheel for a couple of hundred - you don't need the air bag.

I'd at least make it more presentable for the asking price.

Hi Jay!!!! How the heck are ya? Hope all is well with you and the family. Let me know next time you are in town.

No worries on the purchase, something else will turn up. This just wasn't meant to be.

PS: One day, I will learn how to multi-quote! LOL!

Don't worry about multi-quote on this site... it doesn't work. You have to manually make a post and then edit it with all the other quotes in order to do a multi-quote. It's a real PITA.

Unfortunate state of condition for the vehicle in question. I've driven a 4.6 after a refresh (timing chains/guides) and they pull very well. With 475hp and who knows how much torque it should feel like an E46 M3 at bare minimum...

Thanks! I feel better now. As far as that car was concerned, it did not WOW me anymore than the 4.4 I had. That was what struck me. As I said, the engine seemed fine when I scanned it. Nothing stuck out to me - but for the car too feel like it was working hard with a 4.6 engine and a S/C just didn't seem right.

In other news - this just popped up: 2003 BMW X5 4.6is V8 - Estoril Blue

those pictures of that estoril aren't of the actual car. I would be curious to see the real pictures though.

There is a very significant difference of the power to weight ratio of an X5 and a M3. Since Torque gets you going and there are other differences that are M3 advantages, I wouldn't expect "at a bare minimum." Would be interesting to compare dyno runs, or better yet, a side by side race to see what happens.

HP of a 4.6 with supercharger is 451 and TQ is 439.
HP of a stock 4.6 is 340 and TQ is 371.

A supercharged 4.6 certainly pulls hard, especially over 4,500 RPMs and the seat of the pants feel is a huge improvement over a stock 4.6.

I would like have the supercharger and add mods from there unless I couldn't hear the whine.

Huh.... how so? Please explain. I was thinking of going to check it out. Something I should be aware of on this car?

I think the best way I can describe what I felt was that it was all noise, but no go...

In my limited experience, it could be a number of things:

1, Open exhaust due to resonator delete could mean the car breaths a lot easier and better however is losing some bottom end torque? The whole back pressure thing is considered an old wife's tale these days, however there is something to be said about exhaust scavenging.

2, Maybe indeed the S/C is "tired" and due to it being installed on the engine with pulleys and all, it is actually compromising the power output of the engine - almost like additional load on the engine itself.

Just my thoughts.... I could be totally off base here.

The exterior pictures are from two separate 4.6is' that were for sale at different times.
