BTW... I want a 540iT msport in the worst way. Tried to convince the wife to get that instead of an e83 but she was having none of it.
Mine hates the wagon. Hates it. BUT, she has no say in the matter. Buying another sedan is not in the cards. The x5 has to stay clean in and out. The wagon is the backup for her, and my Junk yard go getter if needed. Best of all worlds. I had originally bought a 528it for this purpose, but due to circumstances, have had to keep the 540it

boom.
They're cheap. I paid $1850 for mine... Just had to re-install intake manifold, change an injector. SAP or SAP relay is bad and needs a front left wheel speed sensor. No biggie. I still flogged the daylights out of it two weekends ago.

Usually, craigslist. The 540it was a link from a friend(a guy he knew needed to get rid of it). Honestly, I really just get lucky sometimes. Paid $2k for the red e34. Sold the rims it came with for $1k the next week. Fixed the intake leaks, gutted the cats, redid the suspension et al. Rides like a new car.

Not sure how the mods are on this forum, but all my foils are on bfc. I came here as it's evident the X series experts reside here. Need to learn this chassis, as I'm now gonads deep in the mix.. lol.

If you are willing to do the work you can find extremely cheap cars that have been neglected/abused and turn them into gems much like the OP has. I've done this numerous times. Bought a really nice 98 328i sport for $400 with a blown head gasket. Put ~$1500 worth of parts into it (did upgrades too, not just the HG repair) and sold it for $4250...

When I look at cars I want 2 of the following 3 things listed to be in good condition unless I really like the car and want to keep it forever, then I'm more lax. You've got interior, exterior, and mechanical. As long as 2 of the 3 are in good shape you usually won't lose too much on the vehicle.

Now, with a little one I don't have the time/money to spend rescuing cars anymore... but the deals are out there for sure.

Trust me when I say, I've been in the resurrection game for quite some time. Must be rare though, and I have an affinity for M6X B4X

Same here. Got a little one now. I cannot do these extensive projects anymore.
