I've got a YouTube video detailing my DIY process for my headlights coming up tomorrow. I'll make my own thread once it is up to not get yours off topic.

These are the halos I ordered. You need 145mm semi-circle and 125mm full-circle rings, message them so they know that as it doesn't come in a kit.

Ready for parts. Going to be a week+ wait for the evo projectors and COB leds. Hard part was removing all the old glue. Some peeled, some I heated up. It was just time consuming. Think it's easier to remove that stuff cold and brittle? Or warm and gooey?

Had a neat idea, custom vinyl text around the projector bezel? Something like "XOutpost Evo-X D2S Xenon"

Also don't forget that the projector on the Depo "plug and play" versions is a shitty D2S projector at best - the Hella E55 / RS6 / EvoXR design is much better IMO - So good choice OP, Miniz, etc as we are looking at better lighting output, plus I think the consensus is that the Spyder headlights look much better than the Depo's, more OEM+

The butyl should remove pretty easily when its warm but not hot to be gooey, if you roll it up onto itself it should stick together nicely. Just take a screwdriver and flatten the butyl left in the channel so you are ready for a fresh rope before reassembly.

I was one of the first to adopt a retrofit almost 5 years ago At the time, I was doing it because it was way more cost effective than getting Depo's. I'm using over 10+ year old projector technology now, but it still brings a lot to the table.

Ditto on the butyl. IMO, there is no need to remove the old stuff before you lay more butyl down. It will only look cleaner around the edges. Heck, I've gone so far to just cut off the plastic clip-on tabs on the lens to make installation/removal easier; the butyl does all the work to keep the lens on the housing anyway.

ROFLMAO

So yeah. The 2nd set came yesterday and I installed them. All the CCFL halos worked great, but get this. Driving home from work tonight, I noticed the right side pattern needed serious adjustment.. I get home and crank the adjuster as high as it could go, popped the ball out of the socket.. off they came, snapped it back in and tried again.... still way funky. Off again - this time, I backed out the "fixed" self-adjuster post, since I don't have auto-level. STILL way off, and looked really strange...

That's when I took them out again and had a closer look.

The projector was installed... UPSIDE DOWN.

Baked them open - flipped the projector - and its being put back together now. Wow.

Oh well... my EvoX-R's should be here soon, and I can begin working on the original set.

That is all

ditto here... I bought Spyder CCFL projector replacements. Fit is decent (less than perfect, but only OCD will notice). Light is like 7 days in a row... WEEK! On install I popped one of my 'ballast's' early on, AND, my drivers side low beam projector (besides being super dim) is upside down. AND, while attempting to raise both sets of aiming adjustments to max resulted in stripping the drivers side out.... so I still have a high beam pointing at the ground (on the plus side, the upside down low makes plenty of light above two feet, good thing I have decent fog lights).

considering buying another pair versus paying double for OEM's that I can add CCFL's to. (mine are Halogen, not HID). Haven't committed yet, we shall see.

These knock-off projectors absolutely blow. I have no light at all from the front of the car to about 15-20' out to where there's a cutoff.

I could be crazy, or they're just junk. The adjustment gears like I've mentioned before are very poor, and offer no real up/down control.

Probably nothing I can do until my evos come, except run my fogs to fill in the darkness in front of my truck.

Projector shield should be on the bottom, correct???

^Correct - And yes I could have told you the actual projector for your light output would be SHIT on those - the housings are really good for retrofitting if you have a pre facelift xenon or are upgrading to xenon, but for just using with H7's the output is terrible

Again, I've had my set installed for over a year now, the housings are not OE Hella housings but they are perfectly fine, my retrofitter even unscrewed the long ass adjusting screws all the way when we did the conversion and I have not had a problem adjusting them, using a hex key - the adjusting screws on the top of the housing go in extremely small increments as well.

At least you have a free bonus set coming in the mail.

Lol this is the bonus set I'm working with. The 1st ones are on my workbench apart waiting on the evoX projectors. Should be here Friday.

In the mean time I'm running this new set... which are equally as shitty as the 1st.. with the exception all 4 halos work fine. Just piss poor light output. Downright dangerous.
