New guy

Been lurking a bit, but finally joined up. Looks like an excellent site for people like me that enjoy fixin as much as driving these fantastic machines.

Just got an 04 X5 with 120K on the odometer, sport package and DSP audio/wide screen nav for a song, well actually 6K.

A list of things I have done already; replaced nav screen because of dead pixels, changed trans fluid and filter, it had the symptom of delayed engagement into reverse and fwd. when the pan was dropped the filter just fell out, and fluid was low & brown instead of red. new filter and fluid have corrected that problem. Next was oil change and filter housing seal change, seal came out in about ten pieces .. very crispy. oil leak solved. The temp sensor was throwing codes and leaking so that was also replaced.
updated nav software and obtained the newer maps discs that helped that system out a lot.
One last thing I have to fix is the adaptive headlights .. that should be fun ..
Oh and a question if I may, anyone using the GROM adapter for bluetooth phone and music?

Anyway Thanks for an awesome site, I hope I can contribute as others have here.

Welcome!

I think upallnight has experience with the Grom unit and likes it. Another option is the Mediabridge. It offers USB, Bluetooth, AUX and Sirius radio (separate purchase). I have had the Mediabridge with Sirius radio for many years--not one problem. Depending on how much you want to spend there are many that upgrade to the Dynavin unit. There is a current thread about it.

Headlight problem?

What is your headlight issue? Are they going up and down on their own? Like way high, then a foot down, another foot down, another foot down, then way back high?

And I went the media bridge route. Love it!

Welcome aboard!

I've been here about 10 years I think, on and off as problems arise, and everyone has been wonderful.

Frankly, if this site existed in 1986, I would probably still have my 1974 2002.
