Had one on my 2005 SLK 350 manual was a sport version VERY nice! My son drives that now and it has a nice sound not too loud but definitely throatier than stock. Fitment was a bit tricky.

Really considering the Remus for my 2005 X5 4.8is. I really like the look of the quad tips and new is only $1183. That Eisenmann deal sounds good but would have to take off the flat oval tips and put on new quad pipes. How hard is that?

My shop here could handle anything but they recently got a Remus account and are "pushing" those and have three they did on BMWs recently. They all sound great and LOOK very nice, just not sure they do what and Eisenmann does on quality of materials and sound. Opinions?

I'll say this the Eisenmann is a higher quality in build (they are hand built and fully polished stainless steel) but the quality of the Remus is good for the dollars they are asking. In addition the Remus typically sound deeper/ with more bass in tonal quality over the Eisenmann. I was going to go the route of the Remus but I got a $935 deal on a New Eisenmann Race which I could not pass up since they are $2400 new. If I were doing it all over again the Eisenmann is $2300-$2400 I would try the Remus for half the price. I've had a remus on my 1995 540i sport going on 6 years now and no problems. I still get compliments on the sound quality of the exhaust at times when I am filling up at the gas station. The Remus tonal sound is different than the Eisenmann but still intoxicating like the Eisenmann.

Good information thank you. I suspected the Remus was a bit deeper it sure sounded that way but not hearing them side by side I was/am not sure. The Remus also has that tidy Remus Wolf logo on it and has really pretty quad pipes sticking out. Can't say I like the flat oval stock double pipes. They have that tilt as well!

I definitely like the round tips a lot better than the factory semi rectangular tips. I know some like the factory rectangular tips and thats okay. You must post a video of the remus exhaust that end up installing on the 4.8is. I would love to hear the results of this system

Anyone know if that eBay auction fits the 4.8is?

Those pipes in the pictures look like the larger 4.6 and 4.8is pipes. Any good muffler shop can make this fit just fine on the 4.8is architecture.

Will do if I get the Remus which is likely! Then I will sell the stock ones on the 4.8is for a reasonable amount to recoup a few $$$.

My Remus exhaust. Happy to answer any questions

E54jay4.8is asked for a few sound clips of mine. Took these this afternoon.

Original everything from the header back to the Remus. All resonators cats and original piping are there.

Happy to answer any questions.

Hey Mike thanks for following through with a clip. Yours sounds mean and aggressive. Good stuff.

For whatever its worth, I have 4.6is with Eisenmann Race and the 4.8is with X-pipe and resonator removed. The 4.8is with X-pipe is lot louder and throatier.

I am happy with 4.8is setup. So, if you want to save money, X-pipe minus resonator is a good option.
