what are you using to seal the headlight back up? Are you using any kind of resistors / fuses? I remember in my E46 they had a great wiring harness that tapped into the ECU and foot well light. Came equipped with fuses to protect the vehicle, looked very professional. I've heard stories when these halos first came out that they can short and cause fires.. Looks great. This has been on my list of things to do for some time now. Will probably leave it to the professionals

Good choice on the paint, my buddies had the same done when they took theirs to a guy who does bmw lights for a living. Silver X had them painted silver like you, and the black one got them black. Waiting for some more pics on disassembly and mounted back on the car.. i may take a shot at them when i have free time.

I am going to install it the same way I install them in the E46's with the harness you are referring to. I used to build those harnesses back in the early CCFL days (2003ish) before sellers would send them with kits. I love having them remote fade on with interior lights upon unlock and lock. Then also as a DRL rather than on only with parking lights. I remember the Umnitza setups having issues with arcing and shocks... I've never used those though. Quote:

I've got lots of pics. Will do a writeup for sure in the future, but again, not sure how many would undertake it. Requires a lot of time, patience, and swearing. But then again, many of the best mods do.

Update: First headlight is finished. Second headlight is open. Did the second headlight in about half the time of the first (3.5 hours) and the result was MUCH cleaner. Will be using the method I used on the second headlight for the DIY vs. the first one. I had to rebuild the outside of the U channel on the first headlight because of all the breakage and deformation that occurred from the learning process.
Will post pics tomorrow, it's 4 AM here, and I am done for the night. Physically and mentally.
