Just occurred to me if the speedo is out, its probably a problem with the left (from what I recall) rear wheel speed sensor. That would also trigger the ABS lights as the wheel speeds are not agreeing. Either the sensor or the wires running to it.

As a quick test, you could switch the left and right rear wheel speed sensors. If it is just a sensor, the speedo would come back online, but the ABS light would still stay on as one sensor would be reading low.

If you have BMW specific software, you could check the readings of the individual wheel speed sensors pretty quickly.

Yeah the dealer is right that you got a broken wire somewhere. Its a broken speed sensor wire. Its amazing that they would want to charge you for a wire loom but the problem boils down to a speed sensor wire.

Well went out today and switched the 2 rear sensors. And it didn't fix the speedo. Everything stayed the same.

So now my hopes of this being an easy fix are crushed once again.

Maybe when new sensors get here Monday I'll have better luck

I got the brand new sensors today and installed them. But the speedo still isn't working.

What I don't get was it was working prior to the abs module failing. And still would randomly start working when the abs module would work on cold nights.

Any other suggestions on what it might be or what I should look for

Is this an authorized BMW dealership? If so did you contact BMW NorthAmerica?
