Transfer case is shot- more pics, its out.
Are facelift 4.4/4.8is boxes interchangeable, also i dont need to drop the trans to replace correct? Limped it home was 1.5 mile away before it fully took a dump.. Lucky i made my 115 mile trip https://sendvid.com/bqg83v6s

Sorry to hear the bad news.
I haven't had issues on my transfer case....but interested on what made it fail. Hopefully, you get it sorted. |

Sorry to hear. Fortunately you won't need to drop the transmission to R&R the
T-case. Here's some excellent DIF videos for both removal and rebuild: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fEptvV9ga7Q&t=602s https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6scK...qYQEInQx7JV4l-

Which transfer case are you needing? I have one here that I would like to get rid of.

Pricing and mileage on it?
And maybe there were other symptoms of it to fail, i will be able to tell better when i install another one and test the driveability again.. However it did fail on short notice, Saturday leaving the gym around 1pm it felt a little weird when i got on the gas, at this point i thought maybe its torque converter so i was like ok wont gas it and drive normal i was going to a cabin about 115miles away.. So drove it there mostly cruise control and granny footing since i didnt want to get stuck in the sticks, drove the same way back.. Now halfway on the way there a faint noise started i noticed, still that would leave me only about 100 miles if that till it totally took a dump and i limped it home.. So made the trip back and now when i was by the house close on the way back i wasnt worried about being stranded so gave it some gas on the exit ramp and then it got bad like that.. About to go start dropping this tcase right now, may make a mini diy.

Well, it's got about 100K. My Indy removed it while troubleshooting something else. It didn't fix the issue but I couldn't return the replacement so I just left it in. Since I can't give you a 100% guarantee, how about this. You pay to ship it. Put it in. If it works for you, send me $500. If not, ship it back and we'll call it even. Worth the shot? With the amount of work involved to install it (im almost done dropping the old one tonight)
Not really looking to take the gamble especially since i dont have much time to work on the car lately let alone the tcase job im doing now.. Preferably searching for a 85k miles or less box in 100% working condition.
