Update on the X

Whats up all, havent been on here in a while posting a few things about the truck.

Back in early June i had thought my transfercase went, it was actually the front diff and that was too big of a job for me to tackle at the time so its full rwd converted now. Everything is still active in terms of abs, stability control and all. I still have to remove the front cv's to drop that deadweight thats not being used when i get around to that.

Got new tires up front, the truck is sitting on 315's all around now. I also liked how my buddies E70 4.8 steering wheel felt super tight from get unlike on the 4.8is with servotronic it makes it lighter at lower speeds. I have coded off the servotronic option so the wheel feels like a tank wether in the parking lot or on the road.

Another option i coded is power windows, when i turn the ignition off they continue to roll up/down and with the door open they continue the function, before if you had the door open had to hold the switch up or down where as now its one touch and finishes the process regardless if i open the door midway or not.

Some new pics as always:

Old pics still 275s up front

Are those the Rohanna wheels on your X5? So only rear wheel drive on the X5 is this dedicated summer only vehicle for you now that you have eliminated the AWD structure?

That's good news!

Please do share how did you able accomplished this?

Did you had to use a pre-facelifted parts?

Nice. Always good to see round tips (single or quad). I know I may be in minority but I can't stand oval ones on 4.6is.

+1 on deleting AWD info.

Tecboy99 Buddy from our car club has them (stickers).

Bmw540san i had quad tips 3.5" each before... They were clamp on type and i wanted that so easier to change tips if i ever wanted on my own... Well after 2 years probably from roadsalt and other factors one got loose i guess and flew off somewhere. I couldnt find another anywhere and they were out of stock for 2/3 weeks so i did the single 3.75" each side and i actually like them alot more then i thought i would.

The rwd scenerio i was coming home and 1.5/2 miles from the house horrible noise like a chain skipping and car was bucking so limped it home. Had it up on jack stands wheels fully off ground had my father throw it in drive while i felt to see what was bucking underneath and it looked to be the tcase. Well dropped that out then had more access to spin the front driveshaft by hand, noticed that at one point the cvs stopped turning while i was still turning the front driveshaft for 2-3 inches still they started moving again, looks like the gears went in diff.

Removed the front driveshaft and guibo, installed everything back as normal, initially from the cvs still being connected i would occasionally hear a grind (front diff probably nuking itself fully) and now ive driven it about 6k miles since then. When i get around to it still gonna remove the front cv's then.

Pat what was the option for the window roll up in the coding - that definitely drives me nuts is that I have to wait to open my door until its closed LMAO - I call it the "regulator saver" option -

Btw I was driving so I couldn't text you my wife and I were heading down 287 on Saturday what were you doing pulled over on the shoulder ? I was on other side of the highway and as we passed I told my wife "oh shit thats Pat from the forum I wonder what he's doing there"
