I know, I know. I thought this was silly when I was banging my 2002 around country roads (most likely cause I was looking for places to.. you know... bang). I STILL thought it was silly that everybody complained about the cupholders in my '00 E39 with a 6 speed manual. But then I started driving an E53. I could take a beverage WITH me! I could cubby things like keys, glasses, and all nature of crap in them! I've been so smitten that I actually replaced the cupholders in this X5 less than a month ago. And so, not unlike a set of new speakers, my preferences have changed. Besides, I have been screwing around with Android 7.1.1 on the Google Pixel. I just installed a non-published app from Google called Voice Access. It's really designed for folks with limited mobility, but it is a VERY cool way to interact with the phone. I can't WAIT to try this on an Android radio! So far, I have been able to assign widgets linked to 'scenes' in the alarm.com app. I have created a number of scenes that provide security, lighting, and gate access in my home. One that I use at least twice a day works like this when I activate it: "Ok Google. Activate Voice Access" (I don't think she talks back, though she can confirm if you want) "Run Arriving Home" (thats the name of the widget that I put on the home screen) So, without picking up my phone or even unlocking it, the command recognizes the name of the widget, 'presses' the widget icon and activates the scene I created in alarm.com...
and if it's after sundown... I don't like surprises. I REALLY don't like them for my wife and daughter when I travel. The place lights up well enough for me to be secure that any of us can see anything on the way up the drive, around the house, and even in the backyard once we're inside. And cool poops. Can't forget those.

I did the rear speaker upgrades today, no thanks to the additional complications of the sun shades, but a couple of videos and the method was clear.
I used the Dayton Audio woofers and the JL tweeters. FYI, the Dayton Audio drivers are a wee bit smaller diameter than the JL woofers making for a little more work for the adhesive to do to hold them in. The pipe insulating foam was used to secure the tweeters in place and I used a vibrating cutting tool to remove the connector plug from the old mids to use them for connection to existing connector in the door. Sound is truly awesome to my ears with all the doors now upgraded. Highly recommend the upgrade. Here is my Eonon head unit and some of its capabilities. https://youtu.be/RAv0qZusgBQ Mike

Awesome Mike! I was also thinking to try to salvage the rear door midrange plug on the actual speaker and get it swapped over - the Eonon looks great and the sound you can tell is much improved!

Great video of Eonon head unit. I thought you talked me out of its quality when you were present the Spotify app and it wouldn't load, but it was actually loaded in back ground. Crappy it wouldn't come to foreground tho and you had to go about getting it another way. Still... Do you have a DSP system?

Anyone buy/install the Peerless mid range speakers for rear doors yet? I'm curious of quality over OE.

I haven't bought them yet - they just came back in stock on PartsExpress - will get the Memphis mid-ranges installed this weekend hopefully, just been trouble to find the time lately.
I have DSP and so does X54.8Jay and PropHead, but not semcoMike UPDATE: Those round 2" Peerless/Vifa midranges for the rear doors show as out of stock until 4/24/17 - In the meantime, a couple mins of dremeling to round off the plastic factory mounting ring should have these fitting in the factory rear door midrange nicely, the price is right and they look like a nice speaker with 85 db sensitivity - http://www.parts-express.com/peerles...ofer--264-1044

Yeah, that was on of those quirky Eonon things that makes it "not perfect" but for me tolerable at sub $300 :busting up No, I do not have a factory DSP system BUT, I use a DSP factory sub that I drive with a separate amp that lives on the driver side wall next to the spare tire down in the well. Now this amp is receiving RCA input from Eonon and benefitting from the separate volume adjustment in the Eonon equalizer app. I am very happy thus far with my unit for the dough expended, a great value, not perfect, but for me I'm giving it Mike
