And I*am*! I SWEAR! But ya see.. I showed it off to a fella with an E53. HE liked it. He liked it a LOT. "What I gotta do to get that system forklifted into my ride?" Well, as so often happens, one thing led to ab a zillion others...

This will drive the doors. Within, I will replace the JL Audio C1's with Focal 165F's. I will be removing the C1 crossovers in favor of the amp for that function.
Then, even though I've been thrilled with the bass from the BavSound 8", well, I found a JL 10". Supposedly the difference is palpable. We'll see!

The other things I have been slowly working on include an obscene amount of sound deadening in the doors, behind the headliner, and in the cargo area. I hesitate to accept that the exhaust is 'interfering' with anything bc it sounds teh awesome. But, I am anxious to swap places between the exhaust /road noise and music as the primary audio inside the cabin. It should be a VERY fun time to Florida in a couple weeks!

Anyone knows the size of the Mid-ranges in the rear doors, can't find it anywhere. I know they are unusual but what size speaker will fit in there with some modification?
Stupid me did not measure them when I took the doorpanels off last week.

I've posted this here before (can't remember where), so here it is again, what I used (based on early input I gleaned from this thread) and am very pleased with in my non-DSP NAV E53:

E53 Speaker Upgrades

Dash Midrange: Memphis Audio PRX275 (4 Ohm)

Front A-Pillar Tweeter: JL Audio C2-075-ct (4 ohm)

Front Door Woofer: JL Audio C2-600 (4 ohm)

Rear Door Woofer: Dayton Audio RS150-4 6" (4 Ohm)

Rear Door Midrange Position: JL Audio C2-075-ct (4 ohm)

I also fitted a DSP subwoofer in the factory position and drive it with a separate amp between my spare tire and the left spare well wall, using the subwoofer pre-amp outputs of my Eonon head unit.

For me, I love this system.

Copy it now and save it in your E53 Notes on your Mac or Outlook or ...........

Enjoy,

Mike

Speaking of that, and totally off topic, just for a moment, but does anyone else have a folder in their email (and computer0 specifically for e53 emails/info/receipts/DIY info? I'm loaded to the tits with it since ownership of any of my vehicles. such a saving grace folder, at times.

Well I actually have the pc folder saved on my OneDrive (cloud service) so I can access it from anywhere! SUPER CONVENIENT

SO, you mounted a set of tweeters in the rear doors where the factory mid range were hey??? hmmmm I installed the same speakers here as what I put in my dashboard mid range and while I'm VERY happy with the dashboard sound (definitely upgraded) I feel the sound in the reas now misses the high end the tweeters give, so I was debating on splicing in a set of extra JL C2-075 tweeters I had from the C2 2 way set I purchased years ago for my speakers upgrade...but not sure if I was to splice them into the door's wiring if they'd get the high signals OR just the signals sent to the midrange and therefore the tweeters wouldnt sound proper. I believe that is was what would happen as the factory amp sends specific frequency ranges to specific speakers and therefore my lazy attempt would be not smart.

My E53 porn album is here

https://goo.gl/photos/7fnL7Q7t8A5HFMHm8

I keep pics of my projects and key schematic images and such there.

In Notes on my Mac (iCloud) I have an E53 note with a running history of VIN, PNs for routine maintenance parts, links to awesome DIYs and particularly helpful tips I glean from this forum.

I do this for each of my vehicles so finding and re-posting things like: "What speakers did you use in your upgrade?" are easy to snip and re-post.

Works for my OCD-ness........

LOL
