Self Level Susp. Inactive - after calibration.
I did some recent suspension work... air strut in the front.. thrust arm bushings.. rear sub frame bushings. After all the work was completed, the SLSI error came up on the dash... indy said we probably need to calibrate it.. so he did. The problem is, now the car is level and calibrated to factory heights.. but the SLSI error is still on the dash.. the height controller LED is off. Here is the part that gets me... there are no codes AT ALL on the EHC2 module. Here is what i think happened.. He uses Reignhard (sp?) to calibrate... They way they did it is had one guy with a tape measure measuring the height while the other guy manually lifted and lowered the vehicle.. when the height was at the correct height (in mm's its something like 690mm) he would save the height and move on to the other wheels.. I think he forgot to take it out of the "manual" adjustment mode.. I cant take it back to him right now as he is on vacation. I have access to INPA at home so if anyone know how to fix let me know and i can update. thanks guys. |

There are no errors at all in the module you are 100% certain? Scan it with DIS - not INPA -
Perhaps he put it in transport mode when calibrating? There is a calibration routine you can run in DIS which will solve it - Make sure no errors in module, 90% of the time people drive with leaking air struts they end up burning out their air compressor, which throws a hard code which will keep the suspension level but it will not allow the articulation, and error will be on dash.

Should be done with DIS - "yellow head" sure so yes that's probably what it is its stuck in transport -
If you have Inpa you should have DIS with Virtual Machine on the software suite

No problem man - DIS is very sensitive to voltage so you might need to hook battery charger up (be sure to shut off HVAC and radio when key is on), and also make sure you configure COM ports on your computer and turn off the Wireless/Bluetooth COMPLETELY on the laptop as it will not allow it to connect (competing radio signals)
DIS is great once you get it running - hopefully INPA can delete transport mode -

Good day!!
If you have INPA, you can calibrate it yourself and make sure it is on... I did that to my 2004... I even converted it over to coils, then figured out how to get the system to operate normally... Then converted it back... I think I just controlled all the valves to make sure they worked... Toggled the mode a few times and it stayed working... I calibrated it a few times to narrow in the deviation or gray area.... Good luck!! Cheers!!!

Sometimes when the X5 suspension is fully extended and then lowered to the ground an arm(s) of the level sensor will end up facing the inside rather than outside and cause self leveling system inactive light.

Also, double check that the mechanic made sure the front level sensor's lower mounting bracket is correctly positioned on the trust arm and that the mounting plate on the thrust arm bracket didn't get spun around. There is a mounting tab with a nipple that needs to be positioned correctly before the nut is tightened through the thrust arm bushing. Mine was spun slightly from a previous repair causing the headlights to point to the sky, but no codes stored in LCM. |
