perfect flush fitment with style 168 wheels and 4.8 fender flares

hello experienced E53 owners.

im a new E53 owner and im sure you guys would already have the answers or can point me to a thread that already covered this? i couldn't find anything with a solid answer.

the question:

i have the 20" style 168 factory wheels (9.5x20 +30 front and 10.5x20 +45 rear) tires are 275-40-20 front & 315-35-20 rear, and in addition to the 4.8 fender flares. what spacers do i need for a prefect flushed fitment??

a lot of people are saying they have 20mm in front and 30mm in the back. but im not sure if thats with the flares or not... im assuming it is??

extra info: i will be on BC coilovers. if that makes any difference...

I run 25mm on the 4.8is, and there is still a bit of room. Probably 30mm will get you flush.

thanks! ok. hopefully more people will chime in on the front vs rear spacers. the difference in 25mm to 30mm is small.

btw: i just bought a steering wheel from this guy on Ebay. it shipped yesterday wont get here for another week. but you should check out his inventory. reasonable prices as well. he's raising money to open a theatre.

I have 30mm on the rears and 25mm on the front. That is flush. Any further would push them out too far. Make sure you buy 'hub centric'

CONFIRMED: 25mm front and 30mm rear.

i'm shopping around for the best deal and will need black ones since the car and wheels are black. (but i still doubt you can see them anyway?)

You will see them. Just paint them with a rattle can.

i ended up going with these:

25mm front
&
30mm rear

it saved me about $100 compared to H&Rs. and comes with 5 year warranty. i would have preferred H&Rs more but they were hard to find in black and cost considerably more. also not comfortable with painting them. but strange that it was amazon that came through with these. haha

You may find? You have to get some spacer to hub, small headed bolts for the fronts. These sit flush with spacer to allow the whell to mate to the spacer.

This happens if you wheels are not machined to allow the wheel bolts (now holding on your spacers) do not have enough room, to fit the bolt heads into the wheel recess.

On the 30mm rears the bolts will sit flush. On the 25mm the bolts well protrude by 5mm. You can either cut them down with an angle grinder, or buy purpose fit spacer bolts.

I'm late to the game here, but ECS makes very reasonably priced spacers and adapters as well. Going to order some adapters for the e70 to run the 72.56mm hub size wheels on it.
