Twice alternator failure has caused TCU problems for me. Not sure why, but disconnect the TCU after an alternator failure that seems to create a battery drain problem and voila. problem solved. I don't use the Bluetooth so I too permanently disconnected it. Haven't had a problem since.

Let the X5 sit since 6pm yesterday without a charger etc..

10am this morning battery read 12.6v -.3v when it "woke up"
Hit the key and fired right up.
Tested the alternator under load and tested fine. Battery voltage @ running says 14.0v

My charger has a "recondition" desulfate 24hr setting so i will let that run until tomorrow.
Hopefully pulling fuse 74 corrected the issue. Strange it happened 3 months after the alternator swap but instantly after the flood.

My guess is the flood was simply coincidental to your issue. My battery drain started a year after the alternator failure.

Seems like you got it fixed though. If you ever want to replace that TCU and get the Misses Bluetooth functionality, let us know. TCU's can be had for around $75.00 on fleaBay, you just need to know the correct part number to get. (ask me how I know )

545 had a blow out on the way home yesterday.. thank God for runflats. A 285/30-19 is not easy to find at 7pm..

So, I told the wife it would be a good time to test the X5.
She goes out to start it this morning and click..
10.3v

Damn, I thought we had it. OK so my story. When I went through this it took several weeks figure out and my battery had discharged so many times until I found the telematics unit causing the problem. Even after I had solved it my battery was cooked from so many discharges. I replaced it and have been good ever since. Is it possible yours is having the same issue?

The only other drains I read about was the FSR and telematics failures. I did read about a radio battery drain issue and an Aux radiator fan drain but that was on the E46 forums.

One last question, do you have anything in the electrical system that is NOT OEM?

Previous owner has a what looks like a telephone handsfree microphone beside the drivers seat.

I had a FSR go bad on my e46 M3. Smells like electrical tape burning and the fan stayed on constantly.
I havent noticed any issues with the fan.
The x5 has flashed its hazards at night before because the security system went nuts. I havent noticed that in a while.

I jumped the X5 off to get the tire replaced for the 545.
My wife in her infinite wisdom decided adjusting the seat (im 6.3) was a more important use of resources than actually starting the X5 first...... shes blonde...

Next step would be to buy a new battery. This one tested fine but.. its years past its warranty which means its gonna die anyway.
