Mine is the same size but has 2 vents cut into the cover where the sunglass holder goes and even has the place for the button but it doesn't do anything as in you cant press the button.

So next question is whether or not something useful is behind that cover since it has two air vent grills in it.

You know if there isn't anything behind that grill I don't have to replace it. I can just cut a hole for the sat radio displace to counter sink into it. So now I REALLY want to know whats behind that thing.

My interior is a different color but this pic is what I have.

Looks hollow behind those vents.

Seems Qsilver7 figured it out on here before :

Quote:
If you have the pano sunroof...I figured that the interior motion sensor (UIS) was located there since that area pictured in the post above didn't appear to open up and there's no solid roof panel to hide the interior motion sensor in the middle of the roof due to all of the glass.

As you can see in the diagram below...the UIS (ultrasonic interior-motion sensor) is located in the center of the vehicle when you have the regular sunroof. The X5s with the pano sunroof moves the UIS to the area up near the sunroof access panel (sunglass holder) area:

Just not enough real estate on the back side of that for the unit from the looks of it.

I see.
The ashtray is probably the best place, and also the easiest route wire wise.
What is it you have there ?
Can that be relocated to the glovebox?

I smoke so the ashtray is very used

I will try looking around inside tomorrow when the suns up and see what I have to work with. Im bad about buying stuff in the middle of the night and then being faced with install issues from it being in the middle of the night.
