Thank you good Sir!

Now in your write-up, you did all of your wiring in the trunk because that is where your harness is.

Mine is up front. So same connections, just run the wires all the way to the front?

Pretty much. The harness ran all the wires to the back for me since it had to go back there to plug into where you unplug the radio unit of the nav.

You just need to run the camera wires up to where those wires are on your setup which will be in the dash at the radio itself. Colors should be the same on the wires just the location is different is all.

While on the topic of the extension harness mine is proving ultra annoying, and I dont like what may be my next job (pulling the interior apart to rerun the cable!). So the issue;

Currently I am getting interference through the speakers. This is only when the car is running and changes pitch with engine rpm. As a quick test I pulled the head unit out and plugged it directly into the amplifier in the boot (translation: Trunk ) and all is good with no interference.

I severally dislike the idea of re running the extension harness and was wondering if anyone else has any ideas / short cuts? I tried installing a powerline filter at the headunit on the main power, https://www.jaycar.co.nz/10a-dc-nois...roved/p/AA3074 however did not make any difference.

Any suggestiosn much apprecaited!

Thanks

Which side did you run the harness down? I went down the passenger side (right side) and no interference noises on mine.

Passengers side also, but alas the left side for my right hand drive. Does the main power line run down the left of the right on RHD vehicles?

No idea but that is my only guess as to whats causing the problem.

If you have the same Seicane radio I have it has zero interference noise run the way I did.

The main power bus runs down the left side of all E53s, LHD or RHD.

Here in Middle Earth, the Land of Oz and Blighty, you'd likely want to run the loom down the drivers side.

Having said that, the main bus is *mostly* a big DC power bus, although there is iBus etc. in there also. DC doesn't normally cause interference to car stereos - but this is a LONG loom!

Thanks. I guess pulling it apart now is my only option. I was also wondering if running past the fuse box may be another source of radiated emissions.

Where in the SI are you? Seems like another shed day today with this storm passing through anyway.

Cheers

Hey Sracin, are you referring to the main fuse box behind the glovebox? Maybe but once again, it's pretty much all DC current and not likely to cause much interference. If your "whine" changes pitch with RPM then it's ignition-based interference and not likely to come from the fuse box. Earthing, maybe?

Yeah, chilly down here in Dunedin - I just lit the fire! Sad for January... Wil be working inside today for sure!
