Since the harness wires are all black with no color identification it is not possible to then back in the correct slots except by cycling through the options. I did that last time, which could be part of the problem. Not going to try that again.

So, that means I can't get back to where I was. Only option is to move forward. I will run through the checklist I made from reading all the posts tomorrow to see if I can get sound.

OK - found it. There aren't data wires as I suspected - they are analogue component video - RGB signals for the Nav display.

This helps!

It *may* not matter which ground connects to which but I'm not 100% sure. As suggested by Crowz, it would be best to get it right. But if you don't it won't hurt anything - it just may have funny colours or an interface pattern on the image.

Thanks for searching. If slot location matters there are six options for three wires. If it won't hurt anything to have them connected wrong I will try tomorrow.

Yep, the worst that will happen is you'll get funny colours!

The diagram posted by Crowz yesterday shows the connections rather well actually.

You can see the three wires are shown as coaxial cables. If I'd had have taken more notice of this to start with, I could have answered this a little more quickly!

Just re-connect the centre of each coax and the outer braids and fire it up - and enjoy WonkaVision!

I am sitting in the waiting room at Audio Pros. Decided if I haven't already caused another problem I have must be close to hitting the wrong side of the odds that I connect a wire to the wrong place and fry the main unit or something else that costs even more.

They agree that we need to take it back to original components and get a benchmark.

As suggested it won't matter if the black wires are incorrectly spliced. They can be sorted out.

Sorry to bring this up again Crowz, but was trying to do my back up camera install now that the weather is better, and was looking for some clarity from you.

The rca to rca connection, is it to #8 CCD AV IN?

For the Red that goes to the antenna or amp wire, are we talking about #16 & #17 again?

I used #17 when wiring the Seicane up, so should I just use #16 for the backup RED wire?

For the Ground, where is the best possible place to ground based on my setup which is all in the dash?

I'm trying to install the IBUS interface at the same time, and need to know ground for that as well, so if you could point me in the right direction that would be great! Because in your write-up you get all of your connections from the old NAV plug, which I don't have...

So I need to know ground location and where I can find the IBUS wire for the white connection?

I apologize if this has been covered, but I just can't seem to find the correct info...

Thanks!

Update,

Spent several hours at audio shop yesterday. The tech guy let me watch and help. The goal was to go back to old system before the attempted Seicane install. The end result was the conclusion that DSP amp has failed. Since I don't believe in coincidences, my conclusion is somewhere also the line I did something to cause the amp to fail. He is sending it out to determine cost to repair. I don't expect to know anything until next Wednesday.

We also found the Mediabridge was not working It was acting up before the install so I was not surprised. No way of knowing which happened first though since initially I lost the 20 seconds of sound and then the next day it was back before it went away and never came back, I think the Mediabridge failed first and then one of the several attempts to get the DSP amp working fried it. Having two issues that were contributing to the problem made it extremely unlikely I was ever going to fix the problem. That's based on the tech expertise of 20 years, how long it took him and the testing equipment he used. He huddled with his other techs a couple of times to recap what he had done and get their opinion of what he planned to do next.

FYI, the black wires in the white connector are video colors. Once we got them connected properly the Nav unit colors were normal and could see that functions were working properly.

#8 is backup camera and those 2 wires (#16 and 17) are both fine for power for a camera since they are low amp drawing devices. I went to fuse 7 I think on the fuse box for the ibus adapter.

The updated howto shows what I used.

Glad they have it back working other than the sound part. Getting a dsp amp from a junkyard would probably be the cheapest route but at the same time you can run two rca cable sets to the back and mount a 4 channel amp or two and do away with the dsp. The wires for the speakers are right at the amp. Its what I will do eventually on my non dsp one day.
