I removed mine but it isn't required. I did it for more room to store stuff and also it eliminates the chance of either running the battery down if they mess up later.

Backup camera install: there are various backup cameras and installs shown through this extensive and other threads. Anyone wish to congeal this down to a best practice? I was interested in minimalist appearance with no drilling.

This is the camera I ordered:https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I have received but not yet installed and it looks to have both augmented lighting and fitment. I ordered the 8020 version with 12 imbedded LEDs for the camera as well the the license plate LEDs.

If it fits then you found the best camera. All of those I have bought required modifying to fit and it took awhile to do it. If that one actually fits then its the ideal one.

Let us know if its plug and play. If it is then it should become the official camera to use.

This was easy and works great. Drilled one hole in the back of the plastic tub where battery is. Added a grommet and a little silicone to seal the hole and that was it other than connections. I have the Sony camera option offered by Seicane and works fine.

Sneaky! I think there is an existing hole you could have used although would have required removing bumper to get there. Anyhow glad it worked out.

Hi All. First post here after reading this monster thread through over the course of the last few days.. phew.. Great source of information.

I, like a lot of the others here am looking to replace my headunit with something a little more up to date.

My situation regarding the stereo is slightly different to anyone else who has posted in this thread as far as i can see.

Originally my E53 came with the following according to a vin decoder.
S555A - On-board computer V with remote control
S650A - CD Player
S661A - Radio BMW Business (C43)
S672A - CD Changer for 6 CDs
S677A - HiFi System Professional DPS

No mention of NAV system..

My car does however have the widescreen NAV unit fitted with the DVD GPS unit in the trunk/boot. When i remove the headunit/NAV Screen there is clear evidence of plastic being cut away to allow for the headunit/NAV screen to fit. This must have been done by a previous owner at some point!!

In your opinion, do i need to reprogram the DPS to not look for the NAV Screen??

Regards,
Aleks

Still have not solved the problem with my Seicane unit. I cannot get DVDs to play. The way it is supposed to work is that when a DVD is inserted in the player the DVD screen comes up. When I insert a DVD the music screen comes up. Anyone have any idea what I can try to fix the problem. I have gone back and forth with Seicane since April. I have sent them a video showing what happens that they requested. Two emails later they again asked me to send them a video. Before that they asked me twice to take a picture of the unit so they see what unit it was. No they are saying my warranty was only for a year when I purchased the unit last November and I have been asking for help to fix the problem since April.Their customer service couldn't be worse. The only suggestion they have had is to reset it and take it to an audio shop. I have done the reset several times and been to an audio shop twice. I have asked them 7 times to send me a new unit and DVD player and I will send the one I have back. They want me to send it back for repair when they haven't had any idea what might be wrong in 4 months of asking.

There is a factory setting for DVDs. What is your's set on? There are several options.

All input is welcome.

Does your radio have a parking brake wire? If it does it will need to be grounded. This is the prevent you from watching movies while driving. By grounding the wire it thinks the parking brake is on and will go to video mode in place of music mode.

when I insert a DVD the DVD screen does not come up. This happens sitting in the garage with the key on. I have also tried with the engine running in park. If you go into settings and then to DVD and click on DVD where is it set to connect to DVD?
