Actually powering the dsp amp is easy. The car is turning the amp off on the nav owners.

What happens is this. If the car is coded for dsp and a mid display (non navigations screen) it simple expects power down the amp turn on wire just like a non dsp car. That's it. Provide power on that wire and it stays on.

On a nav equipped car the if the nav screen isn't detected it turns the dsp off in 20 to 30 seconds. Coding the car over to think it came with a mid fixes this from what I have researched.

I don't have a nav equipped dsp car to test this on though. So I cant say this is a fact written in stone. I can just say that others have said it works.

If I ever get a chance to test it someday I will.

So its simply a matter of booting up NCS Expert and changing from nav to mid when unplugging the nav? Bonus question, do you know how it detects the nav is there or not?

@bcredliner, did you try this? its quite easy to do. I'll look into my car over the week end (nothing better to do while the family fights) and locate the settings in NCS to see where its done.

Congrats on the divorce (even though its not yours exactly), I hope life will only get better for her from now on.

In THEORY. I don't have one to test with so I cannot promise it will work. It detects the nav thru ibus communication. Can't fake that thru wiring. So coding is the only solution that I know of.

Basically from my understanding anything that is supposed to be there and isn't found via polling the bus causes the dsp to turn off.

As for her divorce, it cant get any worse

She should do fine and have a better life because of it. But that's up to her now.

I'm just glad the process is over finally.

I have Nav (MK3) and DSP in my 2002 (built very end of 2001), is there any hope for any Seicane unit to work?

Thanks for any replies, I'll admit if I can avoid removing the DSP it would make the whole process easier.
I have no personal experience, but the Germans on the Facebook group Xtrons & I-bus app say Dsp works fine with the I-bus stick & the I-bus app (with Dsp license) on the Xtrons headunits. In theory it should also work on the Seicane units.

I am not a capable coder. Never needed or wanted to do anything that required coding. Nevertheless I will see if I can get the software to load today. I recall the specific directions were posted earlier in this thread.

According to the I-bus app group the license needs to be purchased & activated. Was yours activated? Additionally it’s my understanding from reading many post within that group, the I-bus stick & app keep the dsp amp alive & allow you to adjust its settings. The settings within the Seicane unit are for its amplifier equalizer & will not effect the dsp settings.

This is interesting, I've read what I could but my sister in law is fluent in german so she'll have a go at it this week end. The Xtrons sat navs they recommend are probably the very same than seicane so there is hope.

Should I decide to give it a go, I'll probably just plug it in the boot for a few days before comitting to routing the cable through the car.

I think it is imperative to be sure everything is working as it should before routing cables. I would be sick if I hadn't done that.

I have been communicating with the software guy for DSP portion. His input is exactly as above except he mentioned that there have been a few problems with the DSP software doing what it is supposed to do. My next step when I get back in town is to check for DSP amp output and the coding recommendation. I have verified the DSP amp is getting power.
