Yep the cd changer isn't usable.

Of course one sd card will hold a gazillion cd's worth of music too.

You can grab power and ground at the wiring connector for the rear wiper motor. The circuit is switched power that is live whenever the car is on. The harness has red/green and brown wires. The wiper circuit has plenty of amps to support the camera. I haven't noticed any interference when the wipers are on
Mine had the power wires and video inside the one cable so I only had to run the one cable. Otherwise I would of tapped into the tailgate for power for sure.

The one bdredliner pictured doesn't come with the radio this threads about.
on page 76 bcredliner has the block connector with 4 wires going into the BM54. This is what I am querying because my harness is the same, but the sound still works without using the BM54. So I am curious as to what EXACTLY you would need this connection for?

Which radio do you have? If its the same as mine the harness isn't like bcredliners.

Main thing is that when you don't have dsp you don't hook anything to the bm54. Mine is laying in the house. So not only is nothing connected to it the things laying in the house.

I have the Eonon GA7166S:-

Eonon GA7166S | BMW X5 E53 1999-2005 Android 6.0 Car Stereo 1 Din 2GB RAM Quad-Core 7 Inch Multimedia Car GPS Navigation System

I do not have DSP, but I do have the nav monitor.

If you look at the harness instructions further down on that web page you will see they tell you to plug one of the block connectors into the BM54 for some reason. But like I said, it seems to work without it when i bench tested the Eonon.

Dragging up an earlier part of this conversation... and it seems that every time I think I have a handle on how these dang Beemers are built etc. I find a new variation or new information. I think I'm just going to shut up now and just watch...

So this bloke (BMW DIY Guy) on Youtube indicates that the radio frame CAN be removed and that there is significant difference between the pre-LCI and the LCI models. Check out from about 6 mins in...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HiHI...ature=youtu.be

I still can't find a parts listing for the frame as a seperate part - but that may just mean that it's not sold as a seperate part.

Anywho - it looks like it *may* be possible to remove the frame...

Merry Christmas everyone!

I can't help but notice that the Eonon GA8166 5meter harness shown on this page

Eonon GA8166 | BMW E53 1999-2005 Android 7.1 Deck 2GB RAM Car Stereo GPS with Bluetooth Music Info Display

shows the harness to be compatible with the DSP system.

The instructions in the install show the harness plugging into the BM54 harness and then another piece of the harness plugging into the BM54 Radio tuner itself. I found this to be interesting in that my install of the GA6166 (Factory NAV only NO DSP) used a 5 meter harness without the need to plug a piece of it into the BM54 radio tuner.

I hope bcredliner can get his DSP system going soon.

Mike
