Has anyone seen this problem?
Yes, my solution was this:

fastening the head unit in NAV/DSP replacement

Thanks for the help on this problem.
I found my problem.
The dash material wrapped around the dash and down into the radio hole. It was covering the lower left and right of the head unit mounting frame. When sliding in the GA9166 it would contact the excess material and not seat on the actual frame. It looked OK but it wasn't. Since the material only went halfway up the frame it caused a fulcrum for the radio to rock on when tightening the screws at the top, thus causing the bottom to pop out.

Removing the material only took a box knife and a little care not to cut the wrong thing. I attached a couple of picture of before and after.

You might be able to use a truck I use for installing toilets:

Greased tape and silicone.

For the toilet I put down some extremely thin mylar tape on the ground and use some grease like cooking spray or super lube on that.

Then I position the toilet with some small shims like cooking skewers to keep the toilet 1-2mm off the ground.

Squirt in the silicone around and let out set up a couple days.

Lift off the toilet, peel off the tape and the bottom of the toilet has a perfect "fingerprint" of the tile floor including any grout seam etc.

I can put a tiny dab to fill the shim spaces or leave for weep holes.

You could do similar to make a perfect fit that would lock in like a Lego but you can still pull out. Put the greased tape on the car side and the silicone bead would be on the head unit.

Does the dash screen still show the average consumption? Yes, but you can no longer reset it (or set the clock etc.) without using either the OEM Nav/MID or the iBus app (on an Android HU).

Does the stock subwoofer still work? Assuming the stock sub is part of the DSP audio package, yes, but once again, best to use the iBus app (on an Android HU) in order to preserve DSP operation.. It can done other ways but can be difficult.

Does the trunk DVD stacker mounted still work? No.

HTH...

Hello, I bought the car today, and was asking about the roof DVD, to be seen by the rear kids seats.
Macron brand but cant show the foto.
The old owner says is a factory extra add on.
It brings with a bluetooth phone's and emits 83.6mhz fm frequency to catch in the main radio

I have also in the left trunk one DVD and 6cd reader, right trunk have a subwoofer.

Is this the roof mounted DVD you are referring too?

This is OEM and doesn't require the factory radio to work.

Looks aftermarket. Mine had the BMW logo on it and was made by Alpine.
