bcredliner,

no codes.....no miss....no hard starting.....

Engine goes to closed loop (throttle body behavior) after a few minutes....you can tell this due to exhaust becomes quieter at the same RPM.

I'm very sure the coils are still alright but due to resistance they tend to loose their efficiency.

I can't tell if the DME is compensating for higher ohmic values to deliver the same ignition spark values though....

Might need to compare/probe new coils vs old coils resistance.

Tyres have always been Latitude Diamaris.

It's a big difference from 11 km/l to 8 km/l !!

No change in driving style...
Jeez, I get about 6km/l around town and 8.5km/l on the highway.
The Mrs diesel only gets 12km/l combined!

I'm happy with 7.6km/l
Even my 95 E38 (m60) only got 8.3km/l and I was happy with that!

So you're only getting roughly 560 total kms per full tank?

I think you're X5 uses more petrol than mine....

Do you carry extra load daily?

That's one incredible range on the X5!

All freeway driving I'll get 720 kms with wife and loaded with three luggage.

And I drive sensibly with cruise control set to 120 kmh.

If I'm lucky.
That's empty, with just me in it, commuting. Lots of crappy drivers in Adelaide.
Better on a long trip, but I don't do them often.

Not unusual drop in mileage from a combined city and highway vs. all highway driving.
