Cargo Cover

How do I know which cargo cover my car should have? It's an '04 with the adjustable rear seats. Would a cargo cover from an '02 with adjustable rear seats work in my '04?

Here are some pics of the attachment points. Thanks!

Thanks, that answers my question. If anyone is looking for one for an 00-03 I know where a black one can be had for cheap.

Any of the part databases above would give you the info you seek. Just input the last 7 digits of your VIN...then work your way to the diagram and part nbr index for the cargo cover. You should be able to tell by the data in the supplemental part nbr columns if there's a build date and/or option code required if there's multiple numbers listed for covers.

You can also click on the part nbr (or other type of link) that will explode to a list of other BMW models that use the same part nbr.

For example...the diagram below shows #15 & #12 as the two types of cargo covers. If you go to the database and input your VIN or select the appropriate selections for your model/build date etc...then the part nbr index will list which one of the cargo covers that is used for X5s with your build date:

Was able to locate one at a junk yard. $100.00 later and it's mine.

But the attachment points are the give-away in this case - only cover #15 will fit - #12 has different mount points and requires slots in the rear sills for the cover to supports to run in.

But it's not always this easy to figure!

GREAT NEWS - Your X5 had the GOOD Cover not the cheesy one. Works like a roll up blind.
