3.0 droppy exhaust to v8 dual/quad exhaust

I want to convert my exhaust from the droopy factory 3.0 exhaust to something nicer looking. I found bolt on tips on amazon but was wondering if there was a preferred method people had come up with over the years to getting something better looking tip wise.

Bolt on tips?

Muffler swap?

I'm not even sure what all is out there but next month being Christmas and all I figured I would treat myself to new tires and the exhaust look change.

Thanks for any help finding something decent looking.

Take offs (Quad Tips) from a 4.4 truck should bolt right up. That was something I had always planned on doing, but never got around to it..

4.4i and 4.6is axle back sections will bolt right up -

4.8iS axle back will bolt up as well if you cut and weld your factory 3.0 flanges onto the pipes (what I have on my X)

Ok after looking at the factory parts list do I have to buy the v8 mufflers for my 3.0 ? Is this the axle back part?

The pipes leading out the back seem to be made on the muffler and its two pipes coming out of them not a single like my 3.0 has.

While I haven’t don’t this swap I happened to be under a 04 3.0 & a 03 4.4 at separate times today. Visually, everything looked the same from the center muffler back. So it looked like you would need both rear most v8 (4.4, 4.6) factory muffler assemblies.

That's the difference though you started out with dual pipes from each muffler I only have one pipe from each muffler on a 3.0.

I just cant see spending that much money to add quad tips aka buying mufflers.

I have found several 1 to 2 bolt on tips on ebay. They are cheap so I may try those. Only out $25 if I don't like them. So I guess that's the route I will try at first.

On the money part I spent $1300 for the exhaust on my vette. But I wanted performance and the sound of the corsa exhaust system.

No regrets. Sounds great and performs great.

On my X5 I want it silent which it is. I just want quad chrome exhaust tips aka all for looks.
