I haven't seen an e53 with working power fold mirrors since my brother's 4.4i sport back in 2008. I think you're chasing your tail with these, as they are delicate and break easily, very poor design best left in the past. I manually fold the mirrors if I have to park in a narrow spot.

I know, I know...

I have to reevaluate the want/need for the folding mirrors. I have them on my E46 and love them in my garage but rarely use them when the car is out and about. To really do this the way I want is new mirrors at $500/ea plus the cost of EC mirrors and puddle lamp housings, the cost will approach $2K for everything new.

I was willing to have a go at it for $400 but it looks like that is not going to happen.

Now I'm depressed 2 days before Christmas...

Don't be depressed. There are other options you can add for that price that would be a whole lot more useful, like aux in, comfort or sport seats, etc.

Thanks amancuso... I just hate it when I fail..

Luckily my X5 has the sport option with heated sport seats.

Well, certainly not the end of the world. Looks like I will be out $0.00 in the end. At least the seller has a good policy.

From the eBay seller:

Hi Joe,

Yes of course you can return them for a full refund and we'll cover return shipping. We always protect our buyers if they have any problems with our units.
First, please accept our sincere apologies that one of them seems to have some excessive play in it. I double checked our testing checklist again just to make sure I was looking at the correct vehicle, and it does show as tested and all functions working properly - the only note is the large scuff on the left front mirror. It's possible we could have missed it in the test notes or something could have happened in either removal or shipping, but in any case we're very sorry for the inconvenience. We'll make sure you can get them returned for a full refund.

Initiating a return is easy:
1) Go to your eBay purchase history and find the purchase
2) Click the "more actions" option
3) Click on "return this item"
4) Select the reason for your return as “Doesn't work or defective”. It will then send us a return request to approve. We will approve your request and prepay a return shipping label for you. As long as you print the return label through eBay it will automatically charge our account.

Thanks so much for contacting us so we can help. Please let us know if you have any other questions along the way.

Thanks & Happy Holidays!

No, you're right. Just a disappointment is all.

Could have been way worse... I was sooo looking forward to the install and retrofit...

Thanks brother but I need to just let go on this one. Used ones will be just that, used ones. If this gets done, it needs to be done with new assemblies and the cost is just ridiculous on a $4K car to make it right.
