Bun warmer hot spot

My beloved 4.6 drivers seat has an area where I get a hot spot.
It’s not burning the leather hot, but it’s noticable.
I can’t go to level 3.
How can I fix that?

Sounds like a broken wire. Mine gets hot enough I️ think I️ could burn a hole in my left cheek! Either replace the whole bottom cushion, or buy a heating element, and take off the leather cover and put it between the leather and seat cushion. There was some info floating around here somewhere, and I️ bought an element, but haven’t replaced it yet because I️ hate hog-nose rings, lol...

Left cheek gets well done too. I turn the seat heater on low and run it for a few minutes tops and turn it off.

I have never a bmw seat heater do this before. Need to fix it on mine eventually.

Its caused by people sliding off of the side bolster when getting out of the car and not taking the time to lift their large butt over and out lol.

You need to replace the heater pad that is sewn into the seat cover. It is possible to replace the pad with an aftermarket one without sewing but it will not go up the side bolsters like the original. Still works almost as good! I think KevinKay was going to do a post with some pics when he did his, not sure if he got around to it yet. Do not replace the hog rings as I think that they are what shorts out the element, use zip ties instead.

My 4.4 has a very hot spot on the left middle bolster. I have to keep it on level 2. My 4.8 is fine.
