what I KNOW its NOT-
Definitely not the cat sensors -all new and thenreplaced and switched between banks
Not anything in the intake line - lots new and no leaks
injectors/plugs/coils switched between banks - still bank 2
Not crank case ventilation system
Idle control valve was cleaned (several times), rattles fine
Not the fuel filter/pressure regulator
not the MAF - BUT a new one kept the light off the longest
New bolts in the connection between the exhaust manifold/cat and the first muffler pipe (but I didn't replace the gasket).
I added an "O-ring" on the gas cap - its tight
compression test is good in all cylinders
Fuel tank breaker valve/purge valve replaced
new air filter
DISA "O-ring" replaced 45k miles ago - seals tight

big fear its the exhaust manifold gasket? -but no excessive noise
Changed my valve cover gasket about 60k miles ago, read it was the solution for someone else, but mine is showing no leak or smell on the outside, but could be one of the spark plug seals?

Anyone else have this code and got it corrected??
THANKS
Have you had the intake down to the exhaust (Catalytic) smoke tested for leaks? I know you said no leaks but just wanted to be clear.

I did my own smoke test - harbor fright/cigar.
Pretty confident there are no leaks in the intake

What keeps baffling me is that its always and only bank 2 that throws the code which made me suspect the connection between the exhaust manifold and tail pipe - I read leaks there could suck in air?? and throw off the Oxygen sensor? The bolts there were corroded, I had them cut off and replaced with SS bolts torqued to spec.

THANKS

It is NOT my Idle control valve, installed a new one and still code P1093

Do notice that my DISA valve does not hold completely closed when I plug the air hole (manually push the spring loaded flap, plug the air hole - the flap opens about 1/4 -1/2" and holds, let go air hole - flap springs back).
Would DISA have anything to do with fuel trim??

attaching "freeze frame" of most recent code throw

THANKS!

Can you change the Mass airflow to grams/seconds? I think your Mass airflow is over reporting the amount of air that is flowing through the intake.

I don't see a place to change that?? using OBD fusion

I replaced Mass Air Flow sensor, kept the code off for the longest time, when it returned (thinking MAF could be defective) I tried another new one - code returned. I am confident the MAF is working as it should - what else besides air leaks would skew its outputs??
Could outside temp have any affect? I sometimes notice my outside air temp change several (3-4) degrees between initial start up and moments of driving.

The longer this code has plagued me the quicker it returns after clearing. Now a "pending" code P1093 will show up in a 10 min drive and then at next start up it will through the "service eng soon" light. Initially it would take several starts before light would come on.

I forgot to add that the dealer checked/did the updates on the Engine computer that controls fuel/air rates, I think called DME?
And duel temp sensor in eng block was replaced.

THANKS!

That is normal operation for the DISA.

Was the engine fully warmed up? From your data post it looks like it was only at 172F (78C) which is not warmed up. It should be around 190F to 200F.

If this is the freeze frame for the code, the engine is not warmed up. Engine coolant temp along with the MAF (g/s) is used to determine the fuel mixture. Even though the long term trim is positive, the short term is also positive which may be attributed to the fact that the computer think the engine is still cold so the fuel mixture is set rich. I would get this fix or else you can be looking at replacing the cats because a rich fuel mixture will clog the cats. I would look at the ECT sensor (Engine coolant temperature).

THANK you for your analysis and input.
That Freeze Fame was on a slightly warm eng, a short drive, I did not notice where the temp. gage was.

Through out the year of this P1093 code and prior I have an issue of hard starting when the eng is slightly warm. Quick cold start, quick hot eng start but in the summer when the car is slightly warm - sits for about an hour then it struggle sightly to start. During this period I changed the coolant sensor (#4) and also the duel temp sensor (red arrow photo). Neither corrected the warm start or the P code.

THANKS!
