Are there some instructions someplace on how to “slide that piece of junk CD tray out of there? I hate that thing, and would love to replace it, but it sure doesn’t seem to want to slide. I’ve been afraid of breaking something. I would be forever grateful to be rid of it.

It looks like you'll need some type of thin pry tool if you can't get it out by hand. If there was hardware securing the bin...it would be listed in the illustration with an encircled number.

You can see in the illustration how the upper edges should look and how it goes around the hinges in the armrest.

Take a thin pry tool and try to insert it at a point that looks like you can begin to get under the edge of the bin and start lifting it every few inches.

Or see if you can get the coin holder (#2) out...which may give you something substantial to get a grip and pull upward.

Here's an image of #4 (the CD box)...again, you can see the edges where you can try to insert a lift tool...or try removing the rubbery-like coin holder:

I took it out a few days ago to cut the cable that goes to the phone (wires were broken causing the fuse to blow...) I didn't need any pry tool, the surface inside has enough grip to just pull it out with your hand. At least that was my case... Just give it a few tries and it shoud come out

OK, thanks, I'll go at it again. I remember wrestling with it a bit last Fall when trying to remove the phone - I did get that out. I was more nervous about the car back then, but it has caused me enough grief since, that I don't mind punishing it a little now :-)

Since I posted the question, I already found and ordered a #1 type box used on ebay for $35. It will be great to have a useable console space again.

Thanks everyone.

Same with mine. Basically just lifts out with finger grip on the front surface. Sad to see all that wasted space in there.

Turns out that mine was glued down at the rear, so it required quite a bit of force to get it out. I got I though, so when the new one arrives, I’m set.
