Grom audio advice
It looks like they've been around since at least 2010, maybe earlier. How do these things work with modern smart phones? I use Android devices in particular. Does it work effectively or does it show its age? I looked in the latest firmware updates, and there are updates for this device for Pixel 2 devices, so that's nice that it's still getting compatibility updates. This is the device I'm considering: https://gromaudio.com/store/usb_adap...usb3-bmwt.html Is that the right one? I would get it with the Bluetooth and aux input options. Is installation as simple as unplugging the 6-disc unit and plugging in the Grom? Can anyone she'd more light on any tricks or issues they had during installation? My car has the 6-disc changer in the trunk, with a tape deck above the radio in the dash. Here's my factory options from the VIN. I included them all since I don't know what some of them are. This forum has some extremely helpful folks on it that I'm very grateful for.

This is a great way to go if you want to modernize the connectivity functionality of your X5. Two years ago I installed the unit in my X5 4.6is before a trip from Dallas TX to Fort Myers Florida and have loved every moment of it. I streamed my Pandora, Spotify and my Ipod music collection the entire trip. Phone calls come through and it mutes the volume of the music and pauses the musical selection until you hang up the call and resume. best of all I love how the integration of the system works with the vehicles steering wheel controls. its easy to hook up and the directions are comprehensive. I will be installing one in my E39 M5 later this fall so that I can have the same functionality as my X5.

Can you tell me if the product I linked is the one I need?
Can you tell if I have DSP from my VIN options I listed? I'm under the impression that S676a means I do not, but I don't know if that goes for all model years.

Awesome, thank you!
So I am going to buy the Grom BMWTU3 with the BTD Bluetooth module. Or do I need the behind-the-radio version? (BMWSU3?) I read through your thread but didn't see any info on the correct part number.

My GROM utilized the cables that are in the cubby in the back of the X5. I disconnected the CD changer cable and coaxial cable and just installed the GROM back there.

This would save running the mic cable through the car. https://gromaudio.com/store/usb_adap...the_radio.html

677A is DSP and as stated you do not have the DSP. You just need to order the base kit.

Yep I did the same thing with my GROM install. At the back where the CD changer is located. Its an easy plug and play process. Not difficult at all.
