There will be one issue though...take note of the differences in how the seat's leather panels have different cuts and stitching. The comfort seats have panels that are divided into 3 sections (between the side bolsters) and have stitching that runs vertical. The sport seats have full square panels (that run between the side bolsters) and have stitching that runs horizontal. You may be able to mash the two types of seats together to be comfortable to sit in...but they will look odd visually because the leather will be cut differently and miss-match.

I did something similar with my e70 seats. Went from base seats to sport seats and had to transfer over some components.
The frame itself was all the same but the bottom cushion had a separate piece for the thigh extension. So in order to create a hybrid sport/comfort you would need the foam, bottom cushion frame and new leather cover. Finding these parts used would be almost impossible especially in the 4.8iS leather pattern which I think realoem shows it as M-Leather. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

I did this on e39, used sports bottom seat and combined with articulating backrest. They became contour seats

I wanted articulating back, and thigh support bottom. First of all, sport seats have some weird gears connected to the backrest, and you cannot actually disconnect them. I ended up just cutting off the metal piece that connects then with a cut off disc. Then I tried adding articulating backrest to the bottom of the sport seat, and the bolt positioning is not the same, they don't line up, not even close. So while I've done this on E38/E39 seats, I failed miserably and destroyed 2 perfect seats of seats ![]() |

Good info, Q!
My 04 4.4i has sports seats and they have the four-way lumbar feature ( assuming up/down and in/out are the 4 movements ![]() |
