Regardless, hydrostatic for the WIN
totally off topic, but we just got a foot of heavy/wet snow last night so that Yamaha would be VERY nice today. time to treat myself? Even the wife mentioned we get one, today.

I've been busy is right, so much that I've not been on this site much because I've been too busy doing winter tire research and trying to help coworkers find winter too. I thought we'd have a month or so before this catastrophe but its an irregularity and the snow (2ft by end of 24 hr period) will be melted in 2 days. and we are back to warm weather again. But regardless, I have my winter tires bought and ready for install on x5.
next... snoblower, Honda or Yamaha (both come with hydro tranny option).

FWIW, while the new Honda's are better than the older ones, (just released like 2 years ago), they finally released a recall-redesign on the chute area.....definitely keep this in mind and negotiate/make sure you dealer swaps this out. It has HAD issues with the northeast wet snow, clogging/performance issues. It's not a universal recall but case/case basis. If you got the coin, I would opt for the Yamaha but that's just because I've always wanted one...

You might need to do the bullet list to compare yourself.
Honda has more HP to bucket ratio but the Yamaha always will rooster-tail that snow...
Engine, Weight. It's always the consensus that HP rating aside, the engine has power to it.

If you go red, its got a bigger engine, power steering, electric auger protection.

Lot of plus across both colors.

P.S. - Blue is Cooler - coming from a red owner guy

OK, so after looking at new Honda and Yamaha snowblowers, an deven used ones locally, I'd rather buy another used X5 for the same price to drive over the snow and compact it
So I'll stay with my Hakka's and buy another used X5. solid plan.

So I ended up buying a sweet and tiny little Honda HS55 model. perfect for my walkways. great condition, tracks too and starts on the first pull, every time.

Installed on et24mm offset and 25mm spacers on rears only. And as I had been warned, yes as I'm turning the steering wheel close to full lock, the tires do rub on the inner wheel well liner just gotta learn to not turn so sharply...
