Sense and Sensibility - Used Parts

LOL. Bought my 1st USED part for the X. Lower Hatch supports.

EVERY other part has been brand new. Is this signs the X is getting old.
Ha. Maybe I'm just saving up money for a new Hunter Alignment to be installed at home. Nothing better than a fresh aligned drive

Nothing wrong with that as these things age parts are quickly becoming NLA. As long as the part is OEM and safe I see no issue with used, Ive bought many a used part for my cars.

Was doing some paperwork purging. Don't ask me how much I paid for a brake pad change on the BBK 8 piston front and 4 rear. This was back when 8 piston pads were not even a common item. Grrr.

Ha. I think I'm getting frugal with the gal

Dewd. It's the age! Or the kids. Or like some awful combination of them and 311 different things.

I'm totally there. With my Bimmers. Truth is, around 2006 or so, I found a used rear wiper motor for the Mother in Law's '01 3.0. That thing is still running strong, so I am more partial to the yard than I once was.

Now that I think of it, I went all in on some used aspheric mirror glass on the 4.8is. From Latvia.

And once again, I'm offered pause... I'm running some dark wood trim from a member here. And his used wheels.

Rock your status as a smart consumer. Every time you save a little money on running an E53, you upset the balance we all question at some point. This chassis is what happened when a company committed to driving made an SUV.

Everything since- save the M divisions more defined attempts- has been soccer-team comfort paired with soccer monster tech.

I think it depends on how many more miles and/or years one plans to keep their vehicle, how much one knows about the used part, how dependent on the vehicle to get somewhere they must be on a daily basis, how far away from home it takes them and level of acceptable risk one is comfortable taking.

I bought my X5 new. I have always replaced parts with OE or OEM parts unless a better aftermarket part was available. I have never broken down on the road and never had to replace a part that I just replaced or sooner than a normal death. I don't want anything compromising the driving experience. IMO, if I had a budget restraint my X5 wouldn't be a daily driver so I could save up to buy a new part or I would sell it.

I use used unit quite often where new parts are stupid expensive such as ABS module, BM53 radio, GM3, SRS, etc...

But then if this thread is about suspension components, I use brand new only. Either Lemforder or Meyle HD.
