Of course but I wasn't talking about dealing with the PWM - wondering more about how you dealt with (or didn't) the wiring changes. The after-market tails seem to be set up for dual filament lamps, which the pre-LCI uses but the LCI doesn't (LCI uses single filament lamps).

It was plug-capcitor-play for me. Wiring was the same on my 05.

Unless I'm still misunderstanding something?

Nope - was just curious, as the two versions operate differently (PWM aside) so I was wondering if using the after-market LED tails on an LCI car makes them operate like the pre-LCI cars. For instance, the pre-LCI has only the upper red positions lit up as tails whereas the LCI uses all four rear red positions as tails.

Which LED tail did you ended up with and were did you get those "plug-capcitor-play" that you've mentioned? Thanks.

i had very little good luck with LED replacements but i ended up keeping my rear turn signals they are very nice, but i have the quick-blink as i didn't code out the cold test program.

I couldn't use them in the front corners because the LCM uses PWM to run very low voltage for 'run' vs 'turn' and the LED won't light up. grrrr.

for the tail lights, i think you'd have best luck with entire lamp assembly solution, but you'd need to code out the errors or put in load resistors then you won't get the benefit of lower power.

I installed a jumper to make all four of my tail lights operate for brake; they already all four light for 'run' but two use the low filament and two use PWM; so bizarre!

I have an 01; the bottom lamp uses hi/low filament but the top which is spec'd as a dual filament lamp only is wired to use the low filament for 'run' light.

I noticed recently that the lower lamp on the left is darker than the top lamp in 'run' mode, so looks like the bottom lamp is wearing out; part of why i did the wiring hack was to have redundancy; when my normal brake lamp wears out i have a spare running in parallel on both sides.

Thanks. If I go the LED route, I am definitely planning to go the entire lamp assembly solution. Since mr_robot had already done it with his LCI and it worked out well, I may go that same exact route.

Also, is there any reasons to replace the inner lower hatch pieces? Since those lower inner hatch pieces only contain the reverse light and I don't quite like the look of the long white strip of the aftermarket pieces, is it possible to keep that OE pieces and just replace the outer assemblies?

It's sold with the inner piece so it's up to you. I don't like how the reverse lights reflector goes all the way out and prefer the OE.

But mine were super scratched up so I replaced it for now and will be getting OE inners soon.
