Was searching for some info. to answer another thread and stumbled across this little gem....

Has anyone here been game enough to cut a hole in their dash??

I would love something like this, but it seems like it is only for NAV equipped cars?

My current setup is tablet in a magnetic mount in the same spot:

Always thought that was cool... but no, didn't have the balls to do it. Seems it would do a lot to fix the glare problem that units mounted in the factory location do.

I ended up going with the new 10" in dash Android units that were recently released. Wife said I can not touch my way overkill stereo install though until all of the maintenance and to-dos were done. Oh, and until the parts truck is out of the garage.

You have to cut the dash to install this. But it's cool none the less.

You also end up losing the cup holders add the iDrive style controller gets installed there but since it's touch screen it might be optional.

I like that tablet idea, got pictures of how it's mounted?

This isn't the install you are thinking of, mr_robot - this is a Seicane aftermarket display, not the installation of the later OEM system.

No changes to the lower console at all.

I'm not advocating it - I know very little about it - just thought it worth sharing as I'd not seen this before.

I wouldn't be nervous at all cutting a 12" hole into the top of my dash... Nope, not at all, no way...
