You also end up losing the cup holders add the iDrive style controller gets installed there but since it's touch screen it might be optional.

I like that tablet idea, got pictures of how it's mounted?

It is mounted using a magentic dash mount. I bought the following locally as I wanted to get it installed the same day: https://www.scosche.com/magicmount-pro-dash

Here is a picture of the mount installed:

I routed the cable to the rear cigarette socket along to the center console using stick on cable managers

I haven't tested it yet, but using the above mount the tablet is sitting on the air vent and being pulled against the lip on the top edge. It does not move or shake at all during normal driving, including going over bumps.

But Avin unit is the same, involves cutting up the dash.

I think it could of been designed without the need of hacking up the dash.

I like the idea and the look for sure but not doing that lol

Meh, if I really liked it... I'd hack up the dash.

But what happens when the electronics go bad and you can't find a suitable replacement. I guess it could be a kewl built in tissue box dispenser

That would suck. You buy a new dash I guess? They're like $100-200. Replacing wouldn't be fun at all though.
