I would do the pair as signal. Would look odd I think if it was just low beam or just high beam halo that switched to amber. That's just this man's opinion though.

I think the end result is to have the halos illuminated full time. The LCI X5's came with halos stock but only operated with light switch in position 1 and 2. It has been desired for years to figure out a way to have them illuminated with the ignition in position 1 or 2 regardless of light switch position. Some have rewired the halos with success but someone one day will make a lot of friends if they can figure out the I bus command to light them up.

Mine currently are lighted on full time - but this was already a full blown redo with rings sourced from a Post E53. I've hemmed and hawed on the halo color.....call me old skool, I like my sh1t stealth. Anyhow, for this one, I have decided the running color will be 5K vs. old skool amber. Updates on the finished piece more towards 90 days out.

What I meant is the corners are off at all times unless you activate the turn signals. Just like they are in Europe and ROW.

Part of the problem is the difference in terminology. AFAIK, Europe calls "park lights" the lights that they leave on as markers when they park the car in a precarious place in the dark. We tend to refer to "running lights" as park lights.

I have a ModLight2 laying around here and when I set the Unlock Welcome Lights (keyfob unlock command) set to selection A if fires up the halos (listed as parking lights) for a selectable amount of time and then follows with a turn signal 1 second flash at the end of the time selected.

When you unlock your car by clicking Unlock button on the remote key it starts function “Unlock Welcome Lights” which will make one of the following:
a) starts parking lights for 10/15/20/25 seconds and at the end it adds the turn signals too for 1 second.

From this I know there is a separate iBus command to fire the halos only so the message is already deciphered and working. I have sent Svet an email requesting adding an ignition on command to send that halo IBus message and will see if he is willing to oblige my request. I offered to share in the development costs.

I also ordered his USB IBus interface and with it connected to a laptop running Navcoder, I should be able to identify that IBus message and also send that message onto the IBus with the Navcoder software but I cant keep a laptop running in the car so without a dedicated device to that can send that message, it is pointless. That's why I asked him since he already has the dedicated device for sale. I just need that menu option.

Here are some videos when I was first playing with his ModLight2. Some of it simple eye candy but some things were nice to have like cornering lights and triple blink turn signals which I changed to 5 blinks like my E46 LCM.

Early ones had some issues with message collision. Svet improved the hardware and software in 12/17 to manage the messages better. Cost is really affordable. 41.66 Euro/$47.15 USD. I hope he will get us LCI halos as DDL.

Here is the manual so you can see a bit more of the capabilities:
