-Preface- This is a global economy....

CN90 -
if you see this and it might have been some time ago when you did your E39, but do you recall what COO on your SKF unit.
The SKF I pulled up seems to be of TW origin

CW - Do you recall who the make of the bearing was inside the Febi. I guess I will soon find out and decide if I go 180.

Trust me, this job is not something you want to nickle and dime...

- Flex: SGF (Febi has SGF in the Febi box).
- CSB: trust me, get the BMW Genuine one, it costs a bit more.

I don't understand why you want to save $30 etc. for a job that is so involved.

The 1998 528i E39 Flex Disc, CSB, Rear CV re-greasing is below:

1998 E39 528i 5sp MT
2006 E53 X5 3.0 6sp MT

CN - Have not done a lookup the PN and see who has it the cheapest sorta route. I am aware FCP is not going to be cheaper than Morrisstown, Farifax, etc. FCP has the Febi for $40 and the OE for $134. Just spent a hair+ over 3K in brake hardware no less than 30 days ago. Between the trans, Every other preventative maintenance part I'm touching is not of necessity or preference at this time but I'm doing it, so yes, there is some level of cost conscious.

To bring this thread full circle for the next person who might seek the same info

My gut feeling was telling me to not do the Febi, which prompted the original post. It's not OE replacement but that doesn't necessarily nix it out...

A interesting note - as I was googling the OE PN under google Images, which pulled up a CSB with NTN bearing (which I actually might prefer over SKF)

Fast forward to the comment on penny pinching...(no offense taken, I know you meant well )

I looked up the cheapest Dealer Part. Its around $100 so figure $115 after shipping if their pricing was accurate at the time of my lookup.

Anyhow, while in the middle of cancelling the Febi CSB I had another screen open and found the SKF out of all places - Ebay. Auto Parts Shipper that drops shipped direct from SKF. COO of this part to be unknown. The PN is : SKF HB2790-30. Before hitting up Ebay, I looked it up on Napa. FWIW Napa branded bearings IME are SKF. Napa did not have stock or pricing.

As of this writing, the Febi was $40. The SKF was $65. The OE was almost twice the SKF I sourced. The money saved will go against another laundry wearing parts item. I've dropped more in parts this month than book.

I suppose the same debate goes for the Transfer Case Mount.
I see Febi. I see OE. And in my googling, I'm seeing OE Lemforder but it seems to be only available in Vietnam LOL.
