Driveshaft Center Support
Hate to get a vibration after all that other work is being done *TC, trans*. Can anyone confirm or deny - go with the OEM Febi or go OE ? |

I can't confirm if Febi is the OE supplier... but I can confirm no driveshaft wobble or noise after installing the Febi version when I did my front/rear DS servicing. This one: Febi CSB. It's $7 cheaper now than when I bought it too.

Thx. Before posting the OP I googled sh1t out of it. It even pulled up some links to XOP with threads/subjects on the CSB, some with posts like the 1st replacement put a wobble, or the 1st replacement metal fatigued out, etc. Not sure is these were Autozone specials or the Febi. All I'm seeing online at this moment as a alternative just shot of no-names is the Febi

I wrote a detail DIY on bimmerfest E39 1998 528i.
The bottom line: - Flex Disc SGF or BMW. - CSB: BMW Genuine ONLY, don't try to save $ here, you will regret it. You do not want to repeat this job. The Flex disc, in the Febi Box is SGF. The CSB: Febi is likely Chinese. The BMW is excellent and costs around $80 Iirc.

I've used just about every decent brand of csb on BMWs. Stay away from URO. Everything else has been fine. Never had to redo one. Oh, used meyle flex discs front/back. Also no issues.
Edit: cn90 is right though. This job can suck. Took me two weeks to compete due to a frozen (and special ordered) centering sleeve. Going BMW can will not break the bank and if it gives the warm and fuzzies... Then it's worth it.

Wayyyy OT. Parts is what it is , but at least there are OEM options.
I just serviced/overhauled our Wolf Stove again. To get to one part, you end up breaking up $260 worth in gaskets.... And the gaskets are pretty much MAP/MSRP with no alternative options. |

^That's the problem with "elite" type brands when it comes to appliances. They are a niche product and so no aftermarket companies invest the $$$ to manufacture parts. And as you say, retailers of OE parts have to go by MAP.
My GE range/oven... last 2 heating elements were like $20ea.

The BS also with the elite brands is regional distribution/rights as well....
I went googling as I was not happy paying almost $300 for cheap gaskets. Dollar saved, dollar spent elsewhere. Decided to mailorder it from a different authorized parts dealer. Save me some tax money. Anyhow, no can do. They can only sell to XYZ that is within their region ! No stepping on anyones toes |

^Good to know. Sounds a lot like how the telecom/cable companies operate to maintain their regional monopolies.
