No Turn Signals...Hazards Instead?
I got in my X after stopping at the bank. I was sitting behind a truck at a stop light and saw the reflection of my hazard lights flashing. I tried pressing the hazard button, thinking I had hit it accidentally, and it was dead. My green arrows in the dash weren't flashing either. I tried using my turn signals and nothing! But the hazards kept flashing. I went to the post office, went in, came back out, started the X and everything was fine again. This happened a few weeks ago, as well. Has this happened to anyone else? Is my X possessed????

I remember reading about the hazard button having a problem like this. If it's not that then I would think the LKM is on the way to being fried as the button interfaces directly with the LKM. IF its the LKM the codes for it are stored in the Dash computer. (My dealer took a week to find this bit out!)
New LKM requires the module to be programmed into the vehicle system.

Mine did it once. After a restart it was fine and never happened again. It was after a long rain but I don't know if that caused it.

That happened to me a few weeks ago too! In almost 4 years, it was the first and hopefully last time. I get the "self-level suspension inactive" message about 1-2 times a year, but if the computer starts acting up more than that I think I'm going to have to take it in...especially before the warranty is up. Do you know if the computer can be reprogrammed or does the unit have to be replaced? Anytime the dealer can't reproduce the problem, they are unwilling to do any serious work like replace stuff.

I have had this happen several times as well. I believe it has something to do with the alarm- if it happens again, stop the vehicle, get out, lock and unlock the doors with the key remote and try again. This seemed to work for me, but I can be sure if it was coincidence.

If it's the LKM and it finally goes all sorts of problems will manifest themselves. I would lose all dash lights, turn signals, high beams and rear lights. Hazards would also fail and the only lights I had were low beams which I could not turn off except by the key. The vehicle was with the dealer for a week without it happening to them and did not trip any codes in the normal places. However, after one last drive it did throw its little fit and the dealer, by accident, found problem codes in the dash computer that had been sitting all along.
The LKM was replaced (around $500-$600 worth for the part) and it had to be programmed into the vehicle which took 18 hours on the computer at the dealership. So even if you replace the LKM you are still looking at programming charges. My dealer quoted $100-$150 for that alone.
