Update

Update on my misfire on cylinder #3 (no trigger from DME to #3 coil) I have not sent the DME off for repair attempt yet, but I tried a used wire harness and got the same results, so I guess the DME is the problem.

I am going to send it off when I finish doing other maintenance items.

I pulled the belly pans off and de-greased them, the aluminum pan had a lot of old oil and dirt build up. Then I cleaned as much as I could off the engine so I could look for oil leaks. I have never seen a drop of oil on the ground, but around the CCV and the power steering reservoir and associated hoses there was some oil build up. I was wondering about oil filter housing gasket?

I replaced all 4 Oxygen sensors, and tomorrow I am doing the transmission fluid and filter change, transfer case and the front and rear differential fluid change.

I wonder if you can use a DME from junk yard (is coding necessary for jy DME?).
DME from junk yard is cheap, about $15-$30.
Then if the problem is not DME, then sell the jy DME on ebay later.

You will have to do an alignment between the DME and EWS module if you use a junkyard DME.

Thanks for your comment

I was chasing mis fire on cyl 8 thought I had a bad injector. Was getting ready to order injector when I found your post “ I did not realize the DME turned off the injector with misfires”. Your comment saved me thanks. Mine turned out to be coil plug connection on cyl 8. Cyl 8 access is very difficult on E70 very different then E53. Hope your goes well

Carsoft 6.5 has the feature to align the EWS and DME.

Update on the DME fix.

Update on my misfire on cylinder #3 (no trigger from DME to #3 coil) I did not send the DME off for repair. Instead I got a DME on E-Bay. The description said A used MS43 DME with no EWS chipkey security "immo” software. The DME does not require permission from the EWS system to operate and it is a plug and play swap for all vehicles equipped with the ms43 DME. I just had to tell the guy whether I had a 2.5 or 3.0 liter engine to get the right software. I swapped them out, then cleared the adaptations, and the car runs smooth as silk.

Thanks to you all for the help!
