Brake lights on. Dash indicator lights no flash-sound. Cruise light on. Brake warning

Hi
E53 2003 iA Sport M62

With the key out of the ignition, I get the following:
1. the brake lights stay on
2. headlights stay on
3. green cruise control light on in dash
4. brake warning light on in dash

Key in position 1 and 2, brake lights go off. Dash cruise control and brake warning still on. The dash indicator lights stay on and no sound when indicators turned on. left and right

I have disconnected the battery and will leave overnight. Any help in troubleshooting appreciated.

I have read many threads here but all have slightly different faults. Some point to a wiring fault, brake sensor, wheel sensor, brake switch, LCM. Where would be the best place to start?

Thanks for any help

Brake pedal switch gone bad? Does the brake pedal switch work with the ignition on?

Given it's (mostly) lighting, long with some IKE indicator lamps, it's possible the LCM is having a fit.

Are you able to read codes?

Yes, with the Key in position 1 and 2 the brake lights are off. Am not sure when the engine is rundning.

I have a code reader and will check. Thanks

Id start by disconnecting the negative battery connector for at least 60 seconds and touching the negative cable your removed to the positive connector for a few seconds then reconnecting the negative connector back to the battery. That basically resets everything and see if it behaves. If it doesn't then its diagnostics time. If everything goes back to working right be happy and forget it happened

Gut tells me there is a "dead battery" or "I had to jump the car off" in this story somewhere and this is the result. But I may be wrong.

Also it can be a bad ignition switch. I have had similar things happen to me when the ignition switch goes out on bmw's. But I have seen the same results with the battery getting low and then charged back up. So its a coin toss. At least the battery trick is free

There has been a dead battery but that was in September. Would that affect it now?

Is that a known method to reset everything?! Never heard of that before.

Thanks for your edited input

If its been that long since the battery got low then its probably the ignition switch. The only way I know of to "test" it is to remove the steering column cover and unplug it. If everything turns off like its supposed to when you unplug it you found your problem.

Read the codes and got an E-10 error.

After battery disconnection overnight, I am now seeing a different fault. The orange warning triangle, the red P, red ! and yellow ABS.

The brake pedal feels low too. Brake fluid level is fine though.

Any clue?

Booster issue maybe caused by a bad PCV valve.

There is another way to "test" the ignition switch. If you start the car, turn on some electrical consumers (like the radio and headlights)...then reach over and lower the passenger sun visor...then open the mirror cover.

If odd electrical gremlins occur when you slide the mirror cover open...there's a 99% chance that the issue is the electronic ignition switch.

There's multiple videos on youtube that show the odd electrical gremlins that can occur if you have a failing ignition switch and you do the sun visor test.

Check out some of these videos below and see if they are similar to what you're experiencing...do the visor test to see if you can get the gremlins to replicate themselves.
