Another blower fan issue - not Final Stage Resistor
I have an E53 3.0D with an intermittent blower fan. It comes on and off randomly (for as little as 10 seconds or as long as 10 mins) I have replaced the FSR and this did not change anything, it still comes on and off as it decides, but it works perfectly when it’s running. As an added complication, I tried to reset the clock for summer time and accidentally set a timer that turns on the heater at set intervals. This was complicated to turn off and eventually flattened my battery, but I worked out how to turn this off. This was just before the blower fan issue started. Not sure if there is a setting that may be impacting the fan when the car is running - ie. a timer that turns it on/off - no idea why such a function would exist, but I think the heater on/off function when the car is off is a pretty useless function too. Any ideas? |

Generally the heater on/off function is only a vent (blower) on/off - unless you have the full independant parking heater option. It is used to cool the car down at a set time each day - i.e. your car is sitting in the sun all day while you're at the office - the vent turns on at 4:45 and cools the car down, ready for your departutre at 5pm. :-)
Easiset way to reset everything in the BC (vent timer included) is to pull the battery for a few minutes....
